Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation into the formidable Hindu warrior Lord Ram for Nitesh Tiwari’s cinematic adaptation has truly impressed the Internet, with many praising the VFX and storytelling as “Indian cinema’s peak”.
However, amidst this positive reception, fans of Ram Charan have actively shared and trended his look from RRR, where he embodied an avatar of Lord Ram in the film’s climax. These fans firmly believe that Charan is a more suitable choice for the mythological character.
In S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR, Ram Charan portrayed Alluri Sitarama Raju, also known as Rama Raju, and famously took on Lord Ram’s avatar during a pivotal battle scene. Shortly after Ranbir Kapoor’s initial look as Lord Ram was revealed, Ram Charan’s supporters flooded social media with his photos from RRR, often accompanied by similar captions like, “No hate to Ranbir Kapoor, I feel Ram Charan was the perfect choice for Ram.” Another fan commented, “Can’t judge by a glimpse. But I feel Ram Charan as Lord Ram is more appealing n charming than Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir looks like a chocolate boy, but Ram has that grace, physique and appearance as Ram.”
In response, Ranbir Kapoor’s fans swiftly jumped to his defense, justifying his casting in the film. They countered by explaining, “Ram Charan did not play Lord Ram, he played Seetharama Raju, a freedom fighter. The character demanded intensity, rage. Ranbir plays Lord Shri Ram himself, the epitome of calmness and divinity. Ram Charan can never play Lord Ram, especially “beard-less”.”
