For years, Bollywood fans have waited to see whether Ranbir Kapoor will enter the Dhoom franchise. Every few months, fresh rumours resurface and reignite excitement around Dhoom 4. This time too, reports linking Ranbir Kapoor to the fourth installment grabbed attention. However, the latest update on Dhoom 4 suggests that fans may need to wait longer for any concrete announcement.
Ranbir Kapoor remains one of the busiest actors in the industry right now. He is in the final stages of shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1. After that, he will move on to Animal Park and Ramayana: Part 2. Despite this packed lineup, speculation around Dhoom 4 Ranbir Kapoor casting continues, with many imagining him as the next stylish antagonist after John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan.
Script Still Not Ready, Casting Remains Uncertain
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Yash Raj Films has yet to lock the script for Dhoom 4. The studio has worked on ideas for the film for more than thirteen years, ever since Dhoom 3 released in 2013. Aditya Chopra has reportedly turned down over nine script drafts because none met the standards he expects from the franchise. This careful approach has delayed the project but also shows how seriously YRF treats the Dhoom brand.
Because the script remains unfinished, casting discussions have not moved forward. The report clearly mentions that Ranbir Kapoor’s name exists only as a concept at this stage. Aditya Chopra does not want to take any creative risks with one of his most valuable franchises. The studio also wants to be extra cautious after observing the reception of recent franchise films like War 2 and Mardaani 3.
Ranbir Kapoor Focused on Current Projects
At the moment, Ranbir Kapoor continues to focus fully on his existing commitments. Love & War and Ramayana demand intense preparation and long schedules. His last collaboration with Yash Raj Films, Shamshera, failed to perform at the box office, which reportedly made him more selective about future projects with the banner. He now prefers to move ahead only when the script feels strong and convincing.
Earlier reports had also claimed that Abhishek Bachchan might not return as ACP Jai Dixit in Dhoom 4. Some rumours even suggested that Vicky Kaushal could replace him as the cop chasing Ranbir Kapoor during the heist. However, without a finalized script, these casting talks remain speculative.
While Dhoom 4 continues to stay in development, fans will still get to see Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal together in Love & War, along with Alia Bhatt. For now, the Ranbir Kapoor Dhoom 4 buzz remains alive, but the film will only move forward once Yash Raj Films feels confident about the story.
