Ranbir Kapoor Opens Up On Playing Bhagwan Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has finally spoken about playing Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part retelling of the Ramayana. During an international event, Kapoor shared his enthusiasm for being part of what he calls “India’s greatest story”.

Ranbir Kapoor confirmed that he has completed shooting for the first part of Ramayana and will begin work on the second installment soon. The film, produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios, is scheduled for Diwali releases in 2026 and 2027.

Reports suggest Sai Pallavi will play Sita, while Yash, the star of the KGF franchise, is rumored to portray Ravana. However, the makers have yet to confirm the final cast.

Speaking about his role, Ranbir said, “Just to be a part of that story, I am so humbled to essay Ram’s role. It’s a dream for me. It’s a film that teaches what Indian culture is about — family and husband-wife dynamics. I’m very excited about that.”

He described the project as an opportunity to present the cherished tale to a new generation using cutting-edge technology and a global team of artists and creators.

Ranbir also talked about the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal, titled Animal Park, which will begin filming in 2027. Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga are already in discussions for a third part in the Animal franchise.

The two-part Ramayana promises to captivate audiences with its grandeur and cultural significance, making it one of the most anticipated releases in Indian cinema.
