A sense of concern has surrounded Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone after reports confirmed that Ranveer received a threatening WhatsApp voice note demanding crores. Soon after the message surfaced, the couple increased security outside their Mumbai residence, prompting immediate police action and drawing attention to the safety arrangements inside their housing complex.

According to reports, the couple took swift steps after the threat message reached Ranveer. Mumbai Police moved quickly, deployed additional security, and began investigating the matter as a possible extortion attempt.

Heightened Security Triggers Concern Inside Housing Society

As part of the tightened security, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone deployed six armed security personnel outside their home. An official letter from the housing society, accessed by Hindustan Times, stated that the armed guards were stationed without prior permission from the Society Managing Committee. The letter also confirmed the presence of a uniformed police personnel at the residence.

However, the society raised serious concerns over the movement of armed guards in common areas such as the lobby, gymnasium and children’s play zone. The committee expressed worry about the safety and comfort of other residents, especially families and children living in the complex.

Through the letter addressed to the Dadar Police Station, the society urged authorities to verify whether permission had been granted for deploying armed security inside the residential premises. The committee also requested clarity from the police to prevent fear and confusion among residents while acknowledging the seriousness of the threat faced by the actor.

Police Probe Underway as Ranveer Informs Authorities

Meanwhile, an India Today report revealed that Ranveer Singh immediately approached Mumbai Police after receiving the alleged extortion threat. Acting on his complaint, officials increased security outside his home and launched an investigation to trace the person behind the WhatsApp voice note.

Police teams are currently examining technical details linked to the message as part of the probe. Officials have not shared further information yet, and the investigation continues as authorities work to identify the sender.

The security scare arrives during a successful phase in Ranveer Singh’s career. He was recently seen in Dhurandhar, which emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. The spy thriller, set in Pakistan, shows Ranveer playing an Indian intelligence officer infiltrating terror networks in Lyari. The film also features Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan, and is currently streaming on Netflix. The sequel is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19.

On the other hand, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Singham Returns. She and Ranveer welcomed their daughter, Dua, on September 8, 2024. Deepika will next appear in King, where she stars alongside Shah Rukh Khan.

For now, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone remain focused on ensuring safety as Mumbai Police continue their probe into the threat message. More details are expected as the investigation progresses.
