Filmmaker Shailendra Singh has officially confirmed that a sequel to the 2008 blockbuster Singh Is Kinng is in development, with Ranveer Singh as the frontrunner for the lead role. This sequel will add a fresh spin to the “Singh Is” franchise, following Singh Is Kinng and Singh Is Bliing, which starred Akshay Kumar. However, this time, the franchise will move forward without Akshay Kumar.
Shailendra Singh revealed that he’s been working on this sequel for seven years, finally securing the rights to the title three years ago after extensive negotiations. Production is set to begin in October 2025, with a release planned for 2026. Unlike the original, the lead character won’t be named Happy Singh, allowing for a new storyline with a fresh protagonist.
Ranveer Singh, known for his boundless energy and quirky style, was chosen as the ideal fit for the role. The producer explained that Ranveer’s “energy, cheekiness, and fun” align perfectly with the film’s tone, and it’s noteworthy that this will be his first time portraying a Sikh character. If Ranveer’s involvement doesn’t materialize, Shailendra Singh mentioned that Diljit Dosanjh is the next in line for consideration.
Interestingly, Ranveer was previously offered the sequel back in 2017, but the project didn’t move forward. Now, with the franchise gearing up for a new chapter, fans are hopeful for an energetic and entertaining comeback in Singh Is Kinng 2.
