Wamiqa Gabbi has been making waves online following her impressive performance in Baby John, where she starred alongside Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. After recently confirming her role in Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla, fresh reports now suggest she might share the screen with Ranveer Singh in a superhero film inspired by the iconic Shaktimaan.
According to reports, Wamiqa is the leading contender for director Basil Joseph’s ambitious Bollywood superhero project, which will feature Ranveer Singh in the lead role. Joseph, best known for his directorial success with Minnal Murali, is helming this adaptation of the legendary Indian superhero. A source close to the production revealed that Wamiqa continues to draw attention for her versatility across Hindi and regional cinema, which has positioned her as a frontrunner for the role. The actress is also rumored to be in discussions for a Telugu film alongside Nani.
While official confirmation remains pending, the insider noted that pre-production for the superhero film has already commenced. Despite not being fluent in Hindi, Basil Joseph has reportedly been holding script readings and meetings with Ranveer Singh in Mumbai. The source added that once the script is finalized and shooting schedules are locked, the full casting will be announced. Ranveer Singh, currently completing Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, is expected to shift his focus to this superhero project after March.
Earlier, an entertainment portal reported that the Shaktimaan film had been in development for over three years. Directed by Basil Joseph and jointly backed by Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala, the movie is slated to begin filming in May 2025, aiming for a grand theatrical release in 2026. Touted as one of Bollywood’s most ambitious superhero ventures, the project has generated significant buzz in the industry.
