Rashmika Mandanna Appointed as National Ambassador for Cyber Safety: Learn how to Stay Vigilant in the Digital Age

In this digital age, everyone is vulnerable to cybercrime or online frauds like bank fraud, identity theft, blackmail, etc. Not just common people but even celebs also become the victims of online crimes such as deepfake videos, violation of privacy, morphing, fake news, harassment, exploitation, etc. In order to build a safer cyberspace for people especially women, in particular, Ministry of Home affairs in India has launched a robust cyber safety campaign. Leading this initiative is “Cyber Dost,” the official cyber-safety and cybersecurity awareness platform. To strengthen this campaign, popular actress Rashmika Mandanna has been appointed as the National Ambassador of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre.

Mandanna, a leading star in Kollywood, Tollywood, and Bollywood, is quite popular among the masses for her roles in hit films like Pushpa, Animal, and Varisu. Her influence could boost the cyber campaign to a greater height. With Rashmika as the face of the campaign, the aim is to educate women on how to protect themselves and their families from these threats. They all should learn certain basic tips to ensure a safer cyberspace in the digital age:

How Women Can Stay Cyber-Safe?

Here are some essential tips for women:

1)Strengthen your security by securing your devices: Always use strong passwords and multi-factor authentication for logging into your device and online apps. Install anti-virus and anti-spyware software.

2)Protect your private information: Avoid public Wi-Fi, and disable Bluetooth and location settings when not in use. Lock your phone when idle and review privacy settings on social media. Be cautious about sharing personal information and financial details online

3)Stay Vigilant: While shopping online, choose cash on delivery (COD) for safer transactions especially if the vendor doesn’t have a secure and validated website. Check previous reviews from customers from various platforms.

4)Recognize and Avoid Scams: Avoid clicking on suspicious links or emails from unknown sources. Don’t share OTP with anybody. Don’t hastily believe on callers that ask for money to help your loved ones. It can be spam. Moreover monitor bank activities and be aware of how to block cards if needed.

5)Be responsible and lodge complaints If you experience online harassment or threats, document the incidents and report them to the platform and local authorities.

Rashmika Mandanna was herself a victim of cybercrime in recent times. The way she responded to the crime speaks about the seriousness of this dangerous and pervasive threat that is always ready to knock from everyone’s screen.
