The 2023 USISPF Global Leadership Award for Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility was presented to Nita Amban by the foremost independent group dedicated to developing US-India relations. On Sunday, October 29, USISPF Chairman John Chambers presented the award to Reliance Foundation Founder and Chair Nita Ambani at a reception in New Delhi attended by USISPF Board Members, prominent Indian business executives, and government officials.

Nita Ambani’s award speech: “On behalf of my team, I accept this award with humility and appreciation. I represent the heart of Reliance Foundation, which has touched over 71 million lives with hope and empowerment. Always doing good and giving back has been Reliance’s culture. Reliance has fulfilled its CMR since before CSR was a norm. It became our WE CARE philosophy. We guard the environment. We care about humans. We love our country.”

Ambani praised USISPF performance. “I also like to thank USISPF and its leadership for strengthening India-US ties. The Forum has improved India-US commercial and people-to-people relations in six years.”

A renowned philanthropist and businesswoman, Nita Ambani’s Foundation has touched millions of Indians via education, arts, sports, and healthcare. Her work focuses on women’s and children’s problems, which are crucial to national efforts to close the gender gap and boost India’s economy.

The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) opened in Mumbai last year to considerable acclaim. NMACC has become a hub for world-class performing and visual arts and Indian talent. After 40 years, Nita Ambani headed India’s team to host the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Mumbai in October 2023. The event revived Olympic passion as an Indian city vies for the 2036 Olympics. As promoter and mentor of the Mumbai Indians, she is familiar with domestic sports and has advocated for cricket to be included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

John Chambers, USISPF Chairman, said on Nita Ambani’s achievement, “Social responsibility and charity are key awards. Successful people should give back and provide platforms for others. Nita M. Ambani, who works for Reliance Foundation and excels in arts, sports, culture, and education, exemplifies this selflessness.”

We are thrilled to reward Nita M. Ambani for her tireless efforts to better the lives of countless Indians,” said USISPF President and CEO Dr. Mukesh Aghi, who opened and closed proceedings. Nita M. Ambani feels there is always more to do. At a period of global hard power, she has showed us the reach and impact of soft power, especially in preserving and promoting India’s rich artistic tapestry and showing us that sports are crucial to nation-building.

USISPF was honored to host panel discussions with famed Olympians Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Gold Medalist, and Saina Nehwal, former world number one and Olympian Bronze medalist, and Feroz Abbas Khan on telling Indian stories through cinema and plays.
