Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant offered an honest assessment following his team’s five-wicket loss to Chennai Super Kings, acknowledging that they were slightly under par with the bat. In his post-match reflection, Pant admitted that the side missed out on vital runs that might have tipped the balance in their favor.
“We feel we were 10-15 runs short, we kept losing wickets, whenever momentum was there we kept losing wickets and we couldn’t get a partnership. The wicket was nice to bat on, stopping a bit, we could have got ten runs more. Definitely feeling better about my batting with every game … getting into rhythm,” Pant said after the match.
Pant’s own innings was a resilient 63 off 49 balls—his first half-century of the season—but it came in a situation that demanded more firepower toward the end. He walked in during a tense phase, with Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran already back in the dugout early in the Powerplay. Partnering with Mitchell Marsh and later Ayush Badoni, Pant tried to steady the innings and keep the scoreboard ticking.
Although the top-order setbacks put them on the back foot, Pant’s knock helped his team in putting up a total of 166/7 on the board which was successfully chased by CSK in 19.3 overs.
However, Rishabh Pant’s performance offers a positive sign of his growing form and confidence as the tournament progresses.
