In a high-octane IPL 2025 clash at Eden Gardens on Sunday, May 4, Riyan Parag delivered an electrifying performance for Rajasthan Royals, hammering 95 runs off just 45 deliveries against Kolkata Knight Riders. Stepping in as captain in Sanju Samson’s absence, the young right-hander from Assam took center stage in what turned into a historic innings during his side’s pursuit of a daunting 207-run target.

Coming in to bat at No. 4, Parag took command with a ferocity that left the opposition bowlers rattled and the crowd stunned. He struck six fours and cleared the boundary rope eight times in an innings filled with audacious stroke play. But it was a brief stretch across the 13th and 14th overs that etched his name into the IPL record books.

Facing Moeen Ali in the 13th over, Riyan Parag went on a rampage, dispatching the final five deliveries of the over for towering sixes. Not done yet, he continued his assault by launching the second ball of the following over, bowled by Varun Chakaravarthy, into the stands as well. In doing so, he became the first player in IPL history to hit six sixes in six consecutive legal deliveries across two overs.

While five other players have previously smashed five back-to-back sixes in the tournament’s history, Parag now stands alone at the top with this unprecedented feat. Although international T20s have seen similar heroics from the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, and Dipendra Singh Airee, no batter had managed six sixes in an IPL over — making Parag’s achievement a defining moment of the season.

His powerful innings not only brought Rajasthan Royals within touching distance of the massive target but also reinforced his growing stature as one of the most explosive young batters in the league.
