Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has opted to miss the first Test against Australia in Perth to be with his family for the birth of his second child.
Rohit Sharma, a key player in India’s Test squad, is known for his pivotal role at the top of the batting order. His absence leaves a significant gap that the Indian team will need to address.
Australian batter Travis Head expressed his full support for Rohit Sharma’s choice. Speaking at Optus Stadium after a training session, Head emphasized that such family milestones hold great importance, stating, “If I were in his position, I would have made the same decision.”
He highlighted the sacrifices cricketers often make, acknowledging their demanding schedules. “While we live a privileged life as athletes, we often miss out on crucial moments in our personal lives. Time with family is irreplaceable,” said Head. He also expressed optimism about Rohit Sharma potentially returning later in the series.
