Rohit Sharma Facing Criticism

Rohit Sharma, one of Indian cricket’s most celebrated names, has shared a candid perspective on how he handles criticism — an inevitable part of every sportsperson’s journey. Speaking in an interview, Rohit emphasized that over the years, players learn to develop a thick skin, allowing them to remain unaffected by outside opinions.

“I have been criticised a lot,” he admitted during the conversation. “If it (criticism) affected anyone, the player would have been sleeping at home worrying about it. Every player has built a thick skin.” Rohit made it clear that while not every player may react the same way to criticism, he personally doesn’t let it consume his thoughts. “I am not claiming it doesn’t impact anyone – there are players who may be affected, there are those who don’t. I am not bothered at all. Handling criticism is very important part of a sportsperson’s life. I understand that. Unnecessary criticism is what I am against,” he added.

Rohit Sharma calm approach to scrutiny reflects the maturity he has gained throughout a storied international career. Having recently retired from Test cricket, Rohit has shifted his focus solely to the ODI format. He had earlier stepped away from T20Is after leading India to a World Cup triumph in the Americas, capping off his leadership in the shortest format on a historic high.

Even as he moves forward in this new phase of his career, Rohit’s message is clear — a player’s ability to manage criticism with composure is just as crucial as any technical skill they bring to the field.
