The T20 World Cup is going to take place in June so it is quite obvious that the Indian selectors will also be keeping an eye on performances of the players in the IPL 2024 and they may be having discussions in regard to this as well.
There were some reports which stated that the chief selector Ajit Agarkar had a 2-hour meeting with the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and the coach Rahul Dravid and they had a word about the team selection. The report suggested that in the meeting, it was made clear that if Hardik Pandya wants to be a part of the team, he needs to bowl more in the upcoming matches and they also talked about the possibility of Virat Kohli opening the innings with Rohit Sharma.
However, now Rohit Sharma has denied those reports; while speaking on a podcast, he said that he hasn’t met anyone. Here’s what Rohit said, “I haven’t met anyone. Ajit Agarkar is somewhere in Dubai playing golf and Rahul Dravid is actually watching his kids play in Bengaluru. He [Dravid] was in Mumbai but he got him [the son] to play on a red-soil wicket at CCI. That’s about it. We haven’t met, to be honest. I think in today’s day and age, unless you hear it from either myself or Rahul himself or Ajit himself or someone from BCCI coming and talking in front of the camera, everything is fake.”
So never believe any reports until and unless it comes from someone who is officially associated with BCCI.
