Rohit Sharma believes that his Indian team has experienced several highs and lows, yet their consistent performances in ICC white-ball tournaments deserve immense respect. Under his captaincy, India reached the final of three consecutive ICC events—the 2023 ODI World Cup, the 2024 T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. While they fell short in the ODI World Cup final, they triumphed in the next two tournaments.

With just a single loss in 24 matches across these three ICC events, Rohit Sharma acknowledged the magnitude of the team’s achievements. “Look at what this team has achieved in these big three tournaments,” he remarked in a video shared by Mumbai Indians. “After playing the tournament like that and getting defeated only once and that too in a final. But imagine if we had won that as well to go undefeated in three ICC tournaments—it’s crazy, never heard of. But I will take this, 23 wins in 24 games is unheard of. It looks very nice from the outside, but the team has gone through a lot of ups and downs.”

Reflecting on the journey, he emphasized the importance of celebrating the team’s accomplishments despite the challenges. “We had some really tough times as well, but that is when you got to celebrate. If you do things like this, you got to celebrate. I feel all the people who played these three tournaments, they deserve respect,” Rohit added.

According to Rohit, India’s extraordinary run in these ICC tournaments can be traced back to the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, where they suffered a heartbreaking 10-wicket loss to England in the semifinal. That setback, he believes, played a crucial role in shaping the team’s resilience and determination in the following years.
