Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal & Shubman Gill Flopped Big Time In Their Ranji Trophy Return

India’s cricket superstars Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill had a forgettable outing in round six of the Ranji Trophy. Rohit, playing his first Ranji match in nearly a decade, was dismissed for just 3 runs off 19 balls during the Mumbai vs Jammu and Kashmir Elite Group A match at the BKC ground in Mumbai. Jaiswal managed only 5 runs off 8 balls, and Gill was sent back for 4 off 8 balls. Their struggles highlighted a rare off-day for these top-tier players.

Rohit’s innings lacked the fluency he is known for, as he faced consistent trouble from J&K pacers Auqib Nabi and Umar Nazir. After Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane opted to bat first on Thursday morning, Rohit opened his account in the first over with a single off Nabi. However, he soon found himself bogged down by Nazir’s precise line and length. Nazir, the only remaining player from the J&K team that famously defeated Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy a decade ago, made life difficult for Rohit with deliveries that tested his technique.

One delivery from Nazir rose awkwardly from a good length and struck Rohit on the arm, showcasing the bowler’s ability to extract extra bounce. In an attempt to disrupt Nazir’s rhythm, Rohit tried stepping down the pitch but failed to regain control of the game. His dismissal marked the beginning of a disappointing day for Mumbai’s batting lineup.
The lackluster performances of Rohit, Jaiswal, and Gill have added intrigue to the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, underscoring the unpredictable nature of domestic cricket and the high standards of competition.
