The West Indian cricket fans finally got one reason to celebrate after their team defeated the Indian squad in the second ODI which was played yesterday at Kensington Oval Barbados. The toss was won by the hosts and they decided to put India to bat first. The visitors had a great start as openers Shubman Gill (34 runs) and Ishan Kishan (55 runs) put up a partnership stand of 90 runs for the first wicket but the Indian team fumbled as these two got out and India lost 10 wickets for 91 runs. Changes were made in the batting order and both senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were also rested.
Not just the Indian fans but the former Indian cricketers were also not happy with the tactics of team India and coach Rahul Dravid. The former Indian cricketer Saba Karim who is a part of the panel of JioCinema raised some questions too. He said, “The regular players also need time to face these challenges. At no.4, you are hoping that Shreyas Iyer will come, but he will also need time to get going. Who is your back-up there? Is it Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan or Sanju Samson? Because if they are, you have to design the batting order that way. Batting first was a challenge for us and it was good that we had the chance today, but it would’ve been ideal if we had the right batting order.”
Saba Karim further said, “Also, why are Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli not playing? What’s the point of taking them with the side if they’re not playing? Why not take fresh faces then? Ideally, they should be playing because World Cup is near, you don’t have much time left.”
What do you think of the decisions taken in the second ODI by the Indian team management?
