The Tendulkar family had a momentous occasion on Sunday, April 16, 2023, when Arjun Tendulkar made his much anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) against Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending IPL champions, at Wankhede Stadium.
The presence of Arjun’s father Sachin and sister Sara inside the stadium added to the significance of his debut. Suryakumar Yadav, the acting captain, ordered Arjun to start Mumbai’s bowling assault against Kolkata after receiving his cap from Rohit Sharma.
Arjun was purchased by Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2021 auction for his base price of Rs. 20 lakhs, however he was benched the entire year. Arjun was re-signed by MI for Rs 30 lakh at the IPL 2022 auction, although he once again sat out every game.
