When Adipurush hit theatres, it quickly became a lightning rod for criticism, with audiences and critics alike calling out its dialogue and editing choices. Now, some time after the dust has settled, actor Saif Ali Khan has revisited the film—but this time in the company of his young son, Taimur.
During a conversation shared by Netflix India on YouTube, Jaideep Ahlawat asked Saif whether his children watch his films. In response, Saif shared an amusing anecdote that reflected both humility and humour. “I just showed him Adipurush recently. Then, after a while, he started giving me a look. Then I said, ‘Yeah, sorry.’ He said, ‘It’s okay.’ He forgave me.”
Adipurush, a 2023 mythological action film directed by Om Raut, reimagines the Hindu epic Ramayana with a modern lens. Featuring Prabhas as Raghava (Lord Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Ravana), the film was envisioned as a grand spectacle blending mythology with cutting-edge visual effects. However, despite its ambition, it faced widespread backlash, particularly for its VFX and dialogues.
Saif’s humorous take on the film’s reception at home adds a personal and relatable touch to a project that sparked a national conversation—showing that even stars aren’t immune to critique from their toughest audience: their own kids.
