A significant breakthrough has emerged in the investigation of the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence on January 16. The fingerprints of the accused, identified as Bangladeshi national Shariful Fakir, have been matched with those collected from the crime scene. While this serves as a crucial piece of evidence, the final forensic report is still awaited.
Adding to the mounting proof, two staff members from Khan’s household have identified Fakir as the intruder who assaulted the actor. Their statements came after the Mumbai Police conducted an Identification Parade (IP) at Arthur Road Jail as part of their ongoing probe.
Last month, authorities had already established a link between Fakir and the crime through a facial recognition test. The test confirmed that his face matched that of the suspect captured on CCTV footage from the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, where the actor resides.
According to police reports, Fakir allegedly broke into Saif Ali Khan’s 12th-floor apartment in the early hours of January 16. Once inside, he attacked the actor, inflicting six stab wounds before fleeing the scene. Investigators are now piecing together further details to strengthen the case against the accused.
