Saif Ali Khan recently opened up about the shocking home invasion at his Bandra residence, where an intruder broke in through his youngest son Jeh’s room during the early hours of January 16. The terrifying ordeal escalated when the assailant not only attacked the house help but also stabbed Saif multiple times as he tried to intervene.
Speaking to a leading daily, Saif reflected on the incident, sharing insights into his thoughts, his family’s reaction, and how he perceives the intruder now. He recalled how his elder son, Taimur, initially showed a forgiving attitude, believing the man had acted out of hunger. While Saif admitted he, too, initially felt some sympathy, his perspective shifted as he processed the gravity of what had happened.
Taimur’s innocence led him to think that the intruder should be forgiven, assuming desperation had driven him to act. Saif, too, had considered the possibility of offering forgiveness, but his feelings changed when he fully grasped the severity of the attack. The moment he realized how close he had come to a fatal injury, sympathy gave way to a stark understanding of the situation.
He acknowledged that he didn’t blame society, the police, or even the city for what happened, but rather himself for not securing that part of the house properly. The unexpected nature of the attack left him shaken, as he never imagined something like this could happen to his family. Looking back, he considered the outcome to be the best possible one—aside from not getting stabbed at all, he added with a hint of dark humor.
Saif Ali Khan also mentioned that he once owned a gun, and in hindsight, he was relieved he no longer had it. The situation could have taken a far worse turn, and he was left wondering how things might have unfolded if he had been armed.
