Salman Khan’s Sikandar may have faced harsh criticism from audiences and critics alike, but his box office dominance remains unshaken. Despite opening to mixed reviews, the film has surpassed expectations by collecting over Rs 85 crore within just three days. As it inches towards the coveted Rs 100-crore mark, Sikandar is on track to become Salman’s 18th film to achieve this milestone.
Amid the film’s success, an old debate has resurfaced following a viral clip from one of Salman’s interviews. The host pointed out the noticeable silence from Bollywood regarding Sikandar, despite Salman’s long-standing habit of promoting films by his colleagues and friends. Addressing the issue, Salman responded, “Unko aisa lagta hoga ki zaroorat nahin padti mujhe. (Maybe they think that I don’t need their support.)” However, he was quick to add, “But, sabko zaroorat padti hai. (Everybody needs support, including me.)”
While the discussion around Bollywood’s selective solidarity continues, Salman chose to divert attention to other recent and upcoming releases. He extended his support to Sunny Deol’s Jaat, a mass-action entertainer slated for release on April 10, 2025. He also acknowledged L2: Empuraan, the Malayalam blockbuster starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, which was released just two days before Sikandar and is already breaking records.
Interestingly, among Salman’s contemporaries, Sunny Deol was the only star who publicly promoted Sikandar, giving it a social media shoutout. Aamir Khan, on the other hand, participated in a promotional video with Salman and director AR Murugadoss, but the broader lack of support from the industry has certainly not gone unnoticed.
