Salman Khan’s Team Denies Association With Kapil Sharma Show As It Gets Into Legal Trouble

Comedian Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, has recently come under legal scrutiny after allegedly mocking Rabindranath Tagore’s legacy. The Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation issued a legal notice claiming that the show disrespected Tagore and risked offending cultural and religious sentiments. The notice, represented by legal advisor Nripendra Krishna Roy and sent on behalf of Dr. Mondal, calls attention to a parody skit performed during an episode that featured Bollywood actresses Kajol and Kriti Sanon promoting their film Do Patti.

Initial reports suggested that Salman Khan production house, SKTV, was associated with The Great Indian Kapil Show and had also been served a notice. However, SKTV has issued a formal statement denying any involvement. “Certain sections of the media are reporting that Salman Khan / SKTV have also received the notice, which is incorrect as we are not associated with The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix,” the statement clarified.

The controversy centers on a parody by comedian Krushna Abhishek, who rephrased Tagore’s iconic song Ekla Chalo Re as Paachla Chalo Re (“Go with five people”) in a humorous skit. In the performance, Krushna quipped, “Akela nahi chalne ka. Ek din main akela chal raha tha aur paanch kutte mere piche padd gaye. Main jaanta hoon maine kaise apne aapko bachaya hai,” humorously recounting a personal anecdote about being chased by dogs. This adaptation of Tagore’s song was perceived as offensive by some members of the Bengali community, sparking backlash.

Currently in its second season, The Great Indian Kapil Show stars Kapil Sharma, Krushna Abhishek, Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur, and Archana Puran Singh.
