With her appearance in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sharmin Segal has been in the news. The actress, who also happens to be Bhansali’s niece, talked about her first encounter with Salman Khan in a recent interview while the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was being filmed.
When Sharmin was asked to identify the first star she had met in person, she was chatting to Zoom. The actress, who goes by Salman Khan, disclosed that when she was barely two years old, the actor made a playful marriage proposal to her. “At around two or three, he asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ I replied, ‘No,'” she exclaimed.
Sharmin went on to add that she would turn down everything because she didn’t know what marriage meant and was too young for it.
Sharmin Segal is presently relishing Heeramandi’s achievements in his absence. Upon its Netflix premiere earlier this month, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film quickly gained attention from viewers due to its casting selections. Sharmin, who plays Alamzeb in the television series, received trolling for her portrayal of the character.
Although she is his niece, Sharmin was recently questioned about whether Bhansali offered her any wiggle room. “Ulta, there are no exceptions for me. I won’t dispute that he loves me very much. Sometimes, when I’m just sitting, he will glance at me and say, “Sharmin, his niece.” I don’t see him as my uncle when I see him on a set. I regard him as Sanjay Leela Bhansali because that is the dignity he has accumulated over the course of his life. Just because I’m related to him doesn’t mean I can take that away. She said in report, “I also can’t change the fact that I’m related to him.”
When I reached the maturity to understand his work, my regard for the guy increased dramatically as I came to appreciate who he was. Then, while serving as his assistant, I became aware of the amount of effort he puts forth. Then, while I was working with him as an actor, I discovered what a genius he was. Neither my sister nor I call him Sanjay sir. We never call him mama in public,” the actress continued.
