Following the recent controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on India’s Got Latent, comedian Samay Raina has reportedly called off his Gujarat shows.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) announced on Wednesday that Raina’s scheduled performances in the state have been canceled, and ticket listings for his shows have been removed from the BookMyShow platform.
According to VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput, Samay Raina had initially planned a four-show tour in Gujarat, with performances in Surat on April 17, Vadodara on April 18, and Ahmedabad on April 19 and 20.
However, he claimed that all these shows appear to have been scrapped due to widespread public outrage. Rajput further stated that while tickets were available on BookMyShow until Wednesday morning, they have since been taken down.
Adding to the development, VHP regional secretary Ashvin Patel suggested that the organizers themselves made the decision to cancel Raina’s shows in response to public sentiment. Expressing gratitude to the people of Gujarat for their vigilance, Patel urged event organizers to avoid hosting performances by individuals who provoke controversy.
