Following the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent and Ranveer Allahbadia’s remark on the show, Samay Raina took the drastic step of deleting all episodes. The fallout led to multiple FIRs against him and the show’s creators. Now, YouTuber Shwetabh Gangwar has shared that after speaking with Samay, he realized the comedian was deeply shaken and struggling with his mental health.
In a now-deleted video, Shwetabh revealed details of his phone call with Samay, describing him as someone who was emotionally shattered. “Bhaisahab, toota hua hai vo insaan (He is a broken man). When the controversy first erupted, I could still see the old Samay in him, but when I spoke to him last time, I saw a broken man… depressed, sad, scared,” he recounted, as reported by Free Press Journal.
Shwetabh went on to explain that he himself took a break from social media, feeling helpless in the face of his friend’s struggles. “I was emotionally drained. I couldn’t see my friend like that,” he admitted. He also pointed out that Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani were facing their own challenges in the wake of the controversy.
Currently, Samay Raina is in Canada for his live shows and has requested time until March 17 to return to India and record his official statement regarding the matter.
As Samay continues to navigate the fallout of the controversy, it remains to be seen how he will recover from the immense pressure that has taken a visible toll on him.
