‘Sangam: Digital Twin’ – Government invites EOIs for future infrastructure planning and design

The Indian government’s ‘Sangam: Digital Twin’ initiative has invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to reshape infrastructure planning and design using 5G, and other modern technologies. The submission date is March 15, 2024.

The Indian government has launched the ‘Sangam: Digital Twin’ initiative, encouraging industry leaders, innovators, MSMEs, startups, academia, and forward-thinkers to submit EoIs. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) effort combines 5G, IoT, AR/VR, AI, AI native 6G, ‘Digital Twin’ and next-generation computational technologies to reshape infrastructure planning and design.

March 15, 2024, is the deadline to submit EoIs.

The ‘Digital Twin’ technology creates virtual replicas of actual assets for real-time monitoring, simulation, and analysis for experimental iterations and feedback loops to optimize results.

DoT has encouraged industry pioneers, startups, MSMEs, academia, innovators, and forward-thinkers to pre-register and actively participate in Sangam’s outreach programs “and explore, create, and commit to transform the future of infrastructure planning and design.”

The first step is exploratory for horizon clarity and creative potential unleashing. The second stage involves practical demonstration of specific use cases to create a blueprint for scaling and replicating successful tactics in future infrastructure projects through collaboration, said DoT.

The ‘Digital Twin’ technology lets businesses, services, and customers connect seamlessly online.

The Survey of India (SOI) and Indian private mapping company Genesys International signed a deal last November to create 3D maps of urban landscapes and physical assets with precise details, aligning with the national geospatial policy’s goal of creating ‘Digital Twins’ of major cities and towns by 2035.

Conclusion

The Indian government is seeking Expressions of Interest from industry leaders, innovators, MSMEs, startups, academia, and forward-thinkers for the ‘Sangam: Digital Twin’ initiative. The program uses 5G, IoT, AR/VR, AI, AI native 6G, and next-generation computing technologies to rethink infrastructure planning and design. The submission date is March 15, 2024. For experimental iterations, ‘Digital Twin’ technology allows real-time monitoring, simulation, and analysis. The effort supports the national geospatial policy’s 2035 aim of creating ‘Digital Twins’ of major cities and towns.
