Sania Mirza retires from tennis career after emotional farewell to Grand Slam

Indian star tennis player Sania Mirza had to end her career with six Grand Slam titles. She lost in the final of the Australian Open on Friday.

Sania Mirza of India finished her Grand Slam career with six championships. Sania had a wonderful chance to win her seventh Grand Slam championship, but she blew it. Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna were defeated in the Australian Open mixed doubles final on Friday.

Sania Mirza’s Grand Slam career came to an end after this defeat. Sania Mirza stated after the match, “I will still play a few more events,” but my professional career began in Melbourne in 2005, when I faced Serena Williams in the third round at the age of 18. I’ve had the good fortune to return here several times, won various tournaments, and compete in some memorable finals. Rod Laver Arena has always had a particular place in my heart. I couldn’t have imagined a finer way to conclude my career. I never imagined I’d be able to play in a Grand Slam final in front of my child, so having my 4-year-old child and my parents here is very significant to me.

Sania, a six-time Grand Slam champion, revealed earlier this month that she would retire from professional tennis after the Dubai Tennis Championships, a WTA 1000 tournament that begins on February 19.
