Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Animal was one of the biggest hits of the year 2023 but the movie also got slammed for being toxic and problematic. Not just common people but many Bollywood celebs including Javed Akhtar, Kangana Ranaut, etc. have slammed the film and the director for making such a toxic movie.
However, the director Sanjay Gupta who is known for directing Kaante, Kaabil, Jazbaa, etc. has come out in support of Sandeep Reddy Vanga as he stated in an interview on a YouTube channel, “He has made a lot of people very uncomfortable. We are the land of the Kamasutra and Khajuraho and we will don’t talk about sex education. We are inherently hypocritical race. Recently, I had gone for the trial of a film and there I met Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and a few others. Animal is all anyone can talk about right now. Now life is pre and post Animal.”
Talking about Javed Akhtar’s views regarding Animal, Sanjay Gupta said that the acclaimed writer is seeing the world through rose-tinted glasses and he is not realizing that the society has changed and blaming a movie for what is happening in the society is not right.
Sanjay Gupta said, “He is not accepting that the society has already changed. We are not the same people we were 10 years ago. We don’t have the same compassion. We don’t have the same patience. Look at how we are being manipulated, look at how the media is being manipulated. We will not go back to normal so I don’t think it is right to blame the film for the society and vice versa.”
