Sanjay Leela Bhansali stated that one must have a “deep within” drive to make a great movie. Making a movie is a “very spontaneous decision,” he continued.
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has talked about filming his previously announced projects, including Inshallah and a biopic of Sahir Ludhianvi. Bhansali stated he has no idea “what I’ll make, when I’ll make it” in an interview with Pinkvilla. It’s about the “deeply ingrained inner calling of the filmmaker,” he continued.
Regarding Sahir Ludhianvi’s biopic, Bhansali stated, “I can’t speak right now, but as the fourth, fifth, and sixth unfold, you’ll get to know,” inshallah. It’s a highly impulsive decision, so I have no idea what I’ll make or when. Suddenly, as I’m working on Gangubai, I set down the script and say, Ram Leela. Thus, I’ll be saying no to Gangubai (Kathiawadi) and making a hasty move, inshallah. Thus, it seems to be about the filmmaker’s the inner calling that arises from a profound sense of “ye banao (make this)”
“After that, I’m fully committed to the project and the movie, treating it as though it were my own life and that my soul needed to survive, that level of us kisam ki commitment,” he continued. It’s with everything, so I can’t just make a movie out of it because it sounds good on paper or has a wonderful cast; the desire to do the movie needs to come from deep down, so I’m not sure what I’ll make.”
What Bhansali recently stated regarding Heeramandi
As he reflected on his path, Bhansali mentioned how his early visit to a movie studio sparked his love of narrative. After that, I believed that there was still more film to be created. However, I’ve always wanted to have to do this at some point. Heeramandi would always release a picture after which I would always say, “Wait, it’s too vast,” according to a news source quoting him.
“It cannot be condensed into two or two and a half hours; it is simply too epic. Then we decided to divide it into two sections. Making a series is hard, but we did it, and I’ve had fun with it. I’m happy that we made it and give God praise. There has been a lot of work put into it, 14 years of planning, 18 years of living with it, and 2 years of designing, he continued.
Bhansali’s most recent venture
Bhansali made his OTT debut recently with Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The series explores the cultural reality of Heeramandi in great detail through the tales of courtesans and their patrons. Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman are among those who appear in it. Netflix offers Heeramandi for streaming.
Love & War, starring Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt, was just confirmed by him.
