Sanjay Manjrekar Praises Jasprit Bumrah’s Brilliant Bowling Against Bangladesh

Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar lauded star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah after his outstanding performance on Friday, September 20. Bumrah took four wickets for 50 runs, helping India dismiss Bangladesh for 149 runs in their first innings during the ongoing first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The 30-year-old spearheaded India’s bowling attack, claiming the wicket of Shadman Islam in the very first over. After removing the opener, Bumrah also dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim, Hasan Mahmud, and Taskin Ahmed, emerging as India’s highest wicket-taker in the innings. While speaking on a show, Manjrekar praised Bumrah’s adaptability and intelligence, calling him one of the sharpest fast bowlers in world cricket.

“We all know about his variations, his thinking—one of the sharpest thinking fast bowlers. We saw a certain amount of meanness in the way he bowled to Taskin. But what stood out today was that Bumrah is a bowler without a weakness—regardless of the opposition or pitch conditions. That’s the ultimate measure of greatness. Indian cricket is so fortunate to have him,” said Manjrekar.

Aside from Bumrah’s four wickets, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each, helping India bowl out Bangladesh in just 47.1 overs and secure a significant 227-run lead.
