Sanju Samson Reacts To His Team’s Defeat Against DC By 20 Runs

The IPL team Delhi Capitals managed to register a win in a must-win match against Rajasthan Royals by 20 runs in the match which was played yesterday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.

DC gave a target of 222 runs to RR after batting first with the help of the brilliant knocks by Jake Fraser (50 runs), Abhishek Porel (65 runs) and Tristan Stubbs (41 runs). The RR skipper Sanju Samson (86 runs) fought a long battle against DC and no other RR batter was able to score runs easily against the DC bowling. RR could manage only 201/8 in their stipulated 20 overs.

After the match, Sanju Samson stated, “I think we had it in our hands, it was 11-12 runs per over, it was achievable, but these things happen in IPL.”

Till now in this season, the team which has batted first has won the matches on this venue but Sanju Samson chose to chase; when he was asked about it, he said, “Yes, we are doing both things fine, we would like to stick to what the conditions demand, 220 was 10 runs extra to chase, and if we had conceded a couple of fewer boundaries, we would have made it through”.

Talking about the losses that his team has suffered, Sanju Samson said, “We have lost three games but all those games have been tight, we have been playing remarkably well, we have to do some fine-tuning and make a comeback, we need to keep the momentum going”.

RR is at the second position in the points table with 8 wins in 11 matches and DC has managed to go up at 5 from 6 after winning their sixth match out of 12 played by them.
