Sara described that during Sara’s grandmother’s passing in Delhi, Ibrahim attended school while my mom remained behind and I received my vakalatnama at home.
Sara Ali Khan made her Bollywood debut with Sushant Singh Rajput’s Kedarnath film in 2018 but was also filming Ranveer Singh’s Simmba which came out weeks later. While many were curious to know which would kick-start Sara’s acting career first, not many were aware that both the films invited a lawsuit resulting in the actress getting sued for Rs 5 crore.
Abhishek Kapoor, director of Kedarnath, revealed during production that co-producers pulled out and Sara’s management agency offered her dates for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’; leading to court action and Sara getting sued by both parties involved for Rs 5 crore by both. Sara elaborated this story during Midday’s Sit With Hitlist segment by noting, “2018 May was when it all went wrong; initially I signed for Kedarnath but that soon changed because dates began fluctuating between both films – resulting in me getting sued by both makers ‘Kedarnath’. I was very nervous because I did not have Rs 5 crore sitting around.”
“My grandfather, Ibrahim’s father was dying in Delhi while my mom and sister were there as well; when a vakalatnama arrived at my house I didn’t understand its meaning so I sent it back. However, as it happened the management knew about my shoot schedule – hence why Abhishek may have had his reasons. However it all ended well as eventually Rohit sir and Gattu (Abhishek) sir met up again requesting three days only but Rohit sir said ‘Le lo’; once agreed it was done but it took quite some time flying between Hyderabad and Mumbai as Sara took part in both projects simultaneously,” according to Sara.
“My favorite memory from working with Sushant Singh Rajput (deceased), would be when he showed me how to do a certain line from ‘Kedarnath.’ And it all made sense after that – there’s so much love for that movie because of him! Any appreciation I receive is all down to him; so many wonderful experiences…it would be impossible for me to choose just one.”
