Sarfaraz Khan’s Brother Musheer Khan Suffers Fracture In Accident, To Miss Irani Cup

Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan and a promising Mumbai batter, suffered a neck fracture in a road accident while traveling through Uttar Pradesh. The 17-year-old cricketer was en route to Lucknow with his father and coach, Naushad Khan, to participate in the upcoming Irani Cup. As per a report, Musheer Khan will stay away from cricket for around 3 months due to his injury.

Musheer’s injury not only rules him out of the Irani Cup but may also force him to miss the opening stages of the Ranji Trophy. His absence will be a significant blow to Mumbai’s campaign as they look to defend their title. The teenager’s recent form, including a magnificent knock of 181 during his Duleep Trophy debut for India B against India A, had positioned him as one of Indian cricket’s brightest young talents.

Musheer’s impressive domestic performances had also placed him in contention for India A’s shadow tour of Australia this winter. His strong showing in the Ranji Trophy last season, coupled with his century in the Duleep Trophy first round, made him a favourite for the tour. However, his participation now hangs in the balance following the unfortunate accident.

As per media advisory, Musheer is stable in hospital and he will be flown to Mumbai once he is in a condition to travel. There are reports that the selectors are expected to name a replacement for Musheer in the Irani Cup squad, where he was set to open for Mumbai.

Get well soon, Musheer Khan.
