“Security Alert: Punjab Police Nabs 5 in Pre-Independence Day Operation, Disrupts Terror Plan

Five persons were detained by the Punjab Police on Monday as they allegedly planned to carry out targeted assassinations in the state, breaking up another terror cell ahead of Independence Day, according to police. The accused are agents of US-based Goldy Brar and Pakistani Harvinder Rinda, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

Two pistols made abroad were also taken from them, according to the DGP. In a significant development, @PunjabPoliceInd has thwarted plans to disturb peace and harmony in Punjab by busting a terror module in a combined operation with a central agency, according to Mr. Yadav on X.

By detaining three Tarn Taran residents and confiscating three firearms, the Punjab Police have thwarted a terrorist plot.

On the eve of Independence Day, the Punjab Police deactivated a terror cell by arresting three Tarn Taran residents and seizing three additional individuals.

The counterintelligence squad, working with a central agency and the @PunjabPoliceInd, busted terror modules in two different operations.

Five agents of Harvinder Rinda and Goldy Brar, located in Pakistan and the United States, were detained with firearms in a counterintelligence operation based on intelligence. According to him, they had plans to carry out targeted killings in Punjab. “Preliminary investigations have shown that the accused have been receiving financial assistance from the United States in addition to the consignments of weapons.

Two pistols of foreign manufacture were taken. To uncover the full terror network, additional inquiries are being made, according to Yadav. The DGP claims that a complaint has been filed against the pair in Amritsar under the pertinent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

On August 13, Tarn Taran police arrested three guys and found three pistols from them, breaking up a terror cell.
