Neeraj Chopra, the Indian track and field athlete has once again made the country proud as he won a gold medal in javelin throw in the World Athletics Championship which took place in Budapest.
Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal with the throw of 88.17m which he got in the second attempt. Though the 25 years old started by making a foul, he threw javelin at the distances of 88.17m, 86.32m, 84.64m, 87.73m and 83.98m.
With this, Neeraj Chopra becomes the first Indian to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championship and he is the second Indian to hold the titles of Olympics and World Athletics Championship, simultaneously. The first Indian was shooter Abhinav Bindra and as soon as Neeraj Chopra made the country proud, the social media networks were flooded with congratulatory messages but the message which is getting the most attention is of former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag.
Virender Sehwag took to X and wrote, “Fenkon toh aise fenko ki chaar log bole Kya fekta hai yaar. 88.17 mtr door Bhaala phenka and a World Athletics Championship Gold for our Champion #NeerajChopra . The mega run continues.”
