Akshay Kumar’s latest film Selfiee has had a rather disappointing weekend at the box office. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, it earned around Rs 10 crore after 3 days in theatres. This is Akshay’s fifth flop in a row, after Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, Ram Sethu and Bachchan Paandey.
The film industry has suffered numerous losses last year due to boycott campaigns and the threat of being written off altogether. With the staggering success of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan, the industry was hoping for a revival.
However, Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada tanked on arrival and Akshay’s Selfiee has not been able to contribute to the revival. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Akshay said that this is not the first time he has had consecutive flops. He also said that the audience has changed and one needs to keep up with that change.
