Shah Rukh Khan recently attended a global summit in Dubai on Tuesday and spoke about how he manages to build a connection with audiences across generations and countries. Shah Rukh Khan pointed out that two essentials of forming connections are personal emotions and social emotions. The actor said that personally, everyone experiences the same emotions of happiness, sadness, anger, depression, etc. He mentioned that it is also important to tap into the social emotion of social consciousness of the time and ensure that one’s product caters to those emotions.
Shah Rukh Khan explained, “If you live in times of strife, your product needs to give a feeling of safety. In a time of anti-establishment, when you want to change things, then my movie needs to show me as a hero who will take the world on. You need to remember this for your product to do well.”
“It should touch upon basic emotions. You should be aware of the ecosystem and the social emotion that’s prevailing. If you can arrive at that… my success came in the 90s when our country was opening up and we were going all around the world and talking about India. I think the kind of cinema I did (sings Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam), everybody liked it. Some even got married after watching this film (Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge). It was moments of happiness, love, Switzerland. It was a sign of the times and you need to recognise that for your product,” the superstar mentioned.
