Shah Rukh Khan National Award

Shah Rukh Khan has finally received his first National Film Award for his performance in Jawan, marking a long-awaited and poignant milestone for one of India’s most iconic performers after a legendary career spanning more than three decades.

Shah Rukh won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his stirring performance in Jawan at the 71st National Film Awards, which were revealed today. After an illustrious 33-year career, he finally receives his first National Award. This honor is long deserved, as he was frequently disregarded while putting up his best performances.

How SRK has yet to receive the coveted award

Shah Rukh, who is frequently referred to as the King of Bollywood, made his acting debut in 1992 with Deewana and soon became one of the most well-liked and financially secure stars in the nation. The coveted National Award had eluded her—until now—despite her roles in several highly regarded and popular movies, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Swades, and Chak De! India, and My Name Is Khan.

Shah Rukh played NASA engineer Mohan Bhargava in the 2004 film Swades, who was reestablishing ties with his native country. He deviated from his romantic hero persona with a reserved, reflective performance. Saif Ali Khan won the National Award for Best Actor that year for the romantic comedy Hum Tum, despite the film receiving positive reviews.

Then followed Shah Rukh’s role as Kabir Khan, a disgraced hockey coach looking for atonement, in Chak De! India in 2007. The movie won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment as a result of this firm’s subtly intense performance. Shah Rukh was forgotten once more. Hrithik Roshan won the Best Actor prize for Dhoom 2 that year.

In My Name Is Khan (2010), Shah Rukh astonished viewers by playing Rizwan Khan, a man with Asperger’s Syndrome navigating a post-9/11 environment. He received numerous international honors and widespread acclaim for the performance. However, Amitabh Bachchan, who portrayed a child with progeria in Paa, won the National Award for Best Actor.

Although it may have taken years, the accolade confirms what viewers have long thought: Shah Rukh Khan is not only a well-liked celebrity but also among the best actors Indian cinema has ever produced.

Shah Rukh’s additional honors

Shah Rukh Khan has long been acknowledged for his contributions to film on a global scale and has ultimately received the National Award. Among his many honors are the Padma Shri from the Indian government and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Legion of Honour, two of France’s most prominent civilian honors.
