Shah Rukh Khan, a Bollywood actor, owns several cricket franchises worldwide. Trinbago Knight Riders is one of those clubs that play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). On Thursday, Shah Rukh Khan’s TKR faltered to an eight-run loss at North South in Antigua against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in a CPL 2022 encounter.
Following his cheap dismissal, TKR captain Nicholas Pooran lost his temper, and his antics went viral on social media. Rahkeem Cornwall, an off-spinner for the Falcons, stumped Pooran for 10 off 14 balls as they were chasing 168 to win.
After falling and failing to establish his ground, the Lucknow Super Giants’ and former West Indies hitter slammed the pitch furiously.
With the powerful Kieron Pollard well-positioned and with his eye on the Knight Riders, the team appeared poised to finish the triumph, needing just 14 runs from the last over. Let’s introduce Shamar Springer. With a combination of short and full balls that Pollard was unable to hit to the fence, the right-arm fast bowler maintained his composure.
Pollard and the Knight Riders couldn’t muster four points on the final ball, and the Falcons went to the top of the table with the victory, while Nicholas Pooran’s team sat in second place.
The Falcons reach a competitive score thanks to Fabian Allen
The Knight Riders bowled tightly to restrict the hosts to 77/5 in the 14th over after Pooran won the toss and brought in the Falcons. This went rather well. Fabian Allen, a lower-order counterattacker, hit 45 off just 20 deliveries, including three fours and three sixes. The Falcons reached a good total of 167/6 thanks to the crucial runs.
Obed McCoy, a Southpaw fast bowler, was named Player of the Month after holding the Knight Riders at bay with a 4/39 bowling rate. After getting the Knight Riders started to yet another thrilling start with the bat, the dangerous Colin Munro was run out for 44. In the same over, McCoy pocketed both him and the hazardous Alex Hales.
Despite their best efforts, Pooran, Keacy Carty, and Darren Bravo were unable to hold the crease long enough to contribute to the game-winning attempt. After that, Pollard hit seven boundaries to put Knight Riders back in the game, but he was unable to get his team over the finish line.
