Shahid Kapoor Slams Bollywood ‘Camps’, Says Outsiders Are Not Easily Accepted Here

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is loved by audiences not just because of his acting talent but also for his dancing skills and his fans are loving his performance in the latest release, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” in which he has worked with Kriti Sanon.

In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor was talking about Bollywood camps and how he faced difficulties because he was also considered an outsider. When he was asked about not being a part of any camp from the beginning of his career, he said, “Maybe I don’t have the qualities to be a campy person.”

He also talked about his childhood as he said, “I was from Delhi, I came to Mumbai and I was not accepted in my class. I was the outsider because my accent was different, I had a Delhi accent. I was really badly treated for a very long time.”

Shahid Kapoor further said, “We were living in a rented house so every 11 months, we would shift. I would be in a new building, trying to make friends with people who didn’t know me. I went to Shiamak (Davar) and college, and that’s where I finally felt accepted and I had my own group of people and then I became an actor. When I came into the industry, I realised this is also like a school. Bahar waale ko aasani se accept nahi karte ye log, inko bada problem hota hai ke tum aa kaise gaye ander. (They don’t accept anyone from outside easily. They have a problem that how you enter into the industry). So for many years you deal with that.”

The Kaminey actor also revealed what he thinks about the camp structure, he said, “I don’t like this campy thing. I feel that people who want to creatively collaborate with each other, should. People are comfortable with each other, should. But that doesn’t mean you diss other people or put other people down or you close the doors to other people. And I think that that’s something which does happen in this fraternity. I hate being bullied, and I didn’t have the confidence as a kid, as a teenager and a young adult. But now, if you try to bully me, I will bully you right back. So I hate the bully, I bully the bully. This is no filter Shahid.”

We certainly agree with Shahid Kapoor, what do you say?
