Pakistan captain Shan Masood is reportedly on the verge of being removed as the team’s Test skipper, according to a recent report. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is said to be considering replacing Shan Masood following a series of disappointing performances under his leadership, particularly at home. Pakistan has yet to secure a single Test victory on home soil under Masood’s captaincy, and the recent loss in the Multan Test against England has added to his troubles.
Following the Multan defeat, Masood expressed his disappointment, acknowledging that his team failed to capitalize on opportunities. “It is disappointing to lose again. England found a way to win the match; they created their window of opportunity. The harsh reality is that quality Test cricket sides find a way to win matches,” he told the media after the match on Friday.
In the first Test of the series, Pakistan made history by becoming the first team to lose a match after scoring over 500 runs in the first innings. Despite Masood’s impressive 151-run contribution that helped Pakistan post a big total, England declared at 823 for 7, with standout performances from Harry Brook (317) and Joe Root (262).
According to a report by Pakistan’s Samaa TV, Masood will be sacked as Test captain after the conclusion of the three-match series against England. The report suggests that Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, and Salman Ali Agha are being considered as potential replacements for Masood.
Shan Masood admitted that the team is not learning from its mistakes and continues to repeat them, further contributing to their ongoing struggles.
