“She Is Like My Daughter,” Asit Modi Reacts To Palak Sindhwani Aka Sonu’s Allegations

Asit Kumarr Modi, the producer of the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has addressed the allegations made by former cast member Palak Sindhwani, who portrayed Sonu. Earlier this year, Palak Sindhwani left the show, citing health and professional growth reasons, and later accused the producers of mental harassment and non-payment.

In a recent interview, Modi expressed his deep disappointment over Palak Sindhwani’s departure and subsequent allegations. He stated, “I feel emotional whenever an actor leaves my show because I see them as part of my family. It really hurt me when Palak left since I think of her like a daughter and have always cared for her.”

Asit Modi refuted claims of a hostile work environment and emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline on set. He remarked, “We have to maintain discipline on the sets. If you are already working with an organisation, will you be allowed to do other work also, no right?”

The production house has initiated legal action against Sindhwani, alleging that she breached her contract by engaging in unauthorized third-party endorsements and appearances without written consent. Modi stated, “As far as the Palak incident is concerned, things are being dealt with legally.”

Asit Modi concluded by expressing that Sindhwani’s allegations were hurtful, especially after years of collaboration. He said, “When you spend 5-10 years on a show, becoming like family and getting to know each other’s families, making such statements afterwards doesn’t feel right or appropriate.”

The situation remains under legal review, and further developments are anticipated.
