Actors Shreyas Talpade and Alok Nath have been named in a cheating and breach of trust case filed at the Murthal police station in Haryana’s Sonipat district. The FIR, registered on January 22, includes their names among 13 accused, with charges under Sections 316 (2), 318 (2), and 318 (4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These allegations involve criminal breach of trust, cheating, and deceptive property transactions.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police Ajeet Singh, the complaint primarily targets a society accused of defrauding people by promising lucrative returns on investments. Singh clarified that the complainant mentioned the actors’ names, and further investigation is required to determine their involvement. The complaint was filed by Sonipat resident Vipul Antil against the Human Welfare Credit Cooperative Society, which is registered in Indore under the Multi-State Cooperative Society Act, 2002.
The society allegedly lured investors by offering fixed deposit and recurring deposit schemes with promises of high returns. It reportedly used a multi-level marketing strategy, incentivizing agents to recruit more investors. The activities of the society have been under scrutiny, with allegations of financial misconduct across multiple states since 2016.
Shreyas Talpade, known for his versatile acting, recently appeared in Kangana Ranaut’s directorial Emergency, a film set during the politically turbulent period of 1975–1977. Meanwhile, Alok Nath, a veteran actor with over 300 film credits since his debut in 1982, remains a prominent figure in Indian cinema. Both actors’ alleged roles in the case remain under investigation.
