The young Indian cricketer Shubman Gill must be relieved after hitting a century in the second innings of the second test match against England which was played at Dr. Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium – Visakhapatnam.
India won the second test match by 106 runs and levelled the 5-match series by 1-1. Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his super bowling performance as he took 6 wickets in the first innings and dismissed 3 batters in the second innings.
Shubman Gill was under pressure before this test match because in his last 9 innings that he played at number 3, he hadn’t scored a fifty and there were speculations that he might be dropped in the next test match.
After the test match, Shubman Gill addressed the press conference and when he was asked about the criticism, he called it a part and parcel of the game. In his words, “Part and parcel of the game. If you do well people will laud you and if you don’t there will be (criticism). It is important to know what you are doing to do in the middle. I am someone who likes to play as per the situation and then take chances and play percentage cricket.”
He further praised the skipper, coach and staff members for the support and said, “I was training at the far nets because that was the only one available. The support I have got from Rohit bhai, Rahul sir and Vikram sir as well they are the ones who have always kept me motivated. They have believed in me when that is the case you are always going to be at the top of your game.”
The third test match will be played at Rajkot from Feb 15.
