Shweta Tiwari, a celebrated figure in Indian television, has long been the subject of public interest, particularly due to the turbulence in her personal life. In 1998, she married actor Raja Chaudhary, but their union was marred by turmoil that eventually led to a prolonged legal battle. The couple officially parted ways in 2007, ending their nine-year marriage with a court-approved divorce that came at a significant personal and financial cost to the actress.

Following the conclusion of the case, Shweta Tiwari gave an interview to a media outlet, during which she expressed immense relief at finally being free from the toxic relationship. Yet, the end of the marriage was not without its heavy price. According to the report, Shweta had to give up her one-bedroom flat, which was valued at around Rs 93 lakh, as part of the divorce settlement with Raja Chaudhary.

The legal team had initially suggested a shared ownership arrangement for the property between Raja and their daughter, Palak Tiwari. However, Raja reportedly insisted on having the flat solely in his name. This demand, as per the report, came as a shock to Shweta. She recounted how Raja pushed for sole ownership of the property in exchange for granting the divorce, even at the cost of his relationship with their daughter.

“I was shocked when Raja said, ‘I will sacrifice my daughter for property. Give me the flat and I will give you a divorce,’” Shweta revealed during the interview, highlighting the emotional betrayal she felt during the settlement process.

Despite the separation, the agreement allowed Raja access to Palak, though he could not meet her at his own discretion. Shweta was obligated to ensure that Palak could see her father whenever he desired a meeting.

Their daughter, Palak Tiwari, has since been living with Shweta, while Raja Chaudhary’s struggle with alcoholism and history of domestic abuse remain central to the reasons behind the divorce. The story of Shweta’s separation is a testament to the difficult decisions and sacrifices many women are forced to make when walking away from an abusive marriage.
