The advertising for alcohol products, paan masala, etc. is not allowed by the law because of which these companies take the route of surrogate advertising for the promotion of their products.
While there are many celebrities from Bollywood and sports who have endorsed such products, there are some who refrain from promoting such products. Recently, the actor Siddharth talked about why southern actors don’t advertise for such products. He said that it is because of the stand taken by Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth many years back that the southern actors don’t endorse these products.
Siddharth said, “Rajini sir and Kamal sir took a decision years ago that they still stand by. They don’t go and endorse surrogate advertising for alcohol, smoking, paan masala and all that.”
He further said, “If they had done it, others would also have done it in the South. Nobody does it because they set a precedent. We’re very proud to have two such legends in our industry because they’re two people who showed us the way in many ways.”
Siddharth will be seen next in Kamal Haasan starrer Hindustani 2 which will release on 12th July.
