Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra is going through a tough phase as some of his past releases have failed in making any impact at the box-office. As per the recent reports, he has bowed out of Balwinder Singh Janjua’s upcoming film Mitti just a month before the shoot was set to begin.
The news quickly spread online, although no official statement has been released regarding the film. As per the reports, creative differences are believed to be the reason behind Malhotra’s decision.
However, the exact reasons for his departure are still unclear. The report suggests that the actor had concerns about both the script and his creative vision clashing with that of the director. Other sources speculate that Malhotra wasn’t fully convinced about the project’s direction, while some claim that he might have been seeking more creative control on set. Additionally, it’s speculated that his recent box office performance could have influenced his decision, as it may have made securing funding for the film more challenging.
An entertainment portal reported some time back that Mitti is an action film set to be shot in Uttarakhand. Talking about the movie, Janjua said, “It is an action drama set in Uttarakhand. It is a story about guilt, about living with the baggage of guilt. It is the story of saving your home and your zameen, your mitti. It is about family and relationships.”
In a separate development, it was also reported that Sidharth Malhotra had stepped away from a Meghna Gulzar project where he was set to play a “tough man in uniform.”
There are rumours that Sidharth might be linked to an upcoming romantic comedy produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Tushar Jalota of Dasvi fame. This yet-untitled film is expected to be a light-hearted, commercially appealing project, quite different from the action drama he recently exited. While the female lead hasn’t been officially confirmed, reports suggest that Janhvi Kapoor is in talks for the role.
Meanwhile, Sidharth is also rumored to be in discussions with the makers of Race 4 to join Saif Ali Khan in the franchise’s next installment. Additionally, there’s speculation that he may soon reunite on screen with his actress-wife, Kiara Advani, for a romantic comedy. This project would be their first film together since their wedding in February 2023.
