The support comes in the midst of ongoing rumors about a potential separation between Abhishek and his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. For months, speculation about their marriage has circulated, fueled further when the Bachchan family did not publicly wish Aishwarya on her birthday, earlier this month. Additionally, Aishwarya has not been seen with the family in recent events, adding to the rumors.
On Tuesday night, Simi Garewal shared an Instagram post expressing her support for Abhishek. In her post, she shared a clip from her popular talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, featuring Abhishek and described him as one of Bollywood’s “nicest men”. In the post caption, she wrote, “I think everyone who knows Abhishek Bachchan personally will agree he is among the nicest men in Bollywood. Good values and innate decency.”
Bollywood director-choreographer Farah Khan echoed Simi’s sentiments, leaving a comment on the post stating, “I fully agree! He is just the nicest guy.” However, the supportive messages received mixed reactions from fans and followers online.
Despite the support from Simi and Farah, social media users reacted critically, especially fans of Aishwarya Rai. Many commented on the post, suggesting the timing was inappropriate given the rumors surrounding Abhishek and Aishwarya’s marriage. Some accused Simi of defending Abhishek while remaining silent about Aishwarya’s situation. One comment noted, “Very controversial time to put out this… Not fair yaa,” while another accused her of “protecting” Abhishek.
Following the backlash, Simi Garewal ultimately deleted the post. Despite the removal, screenshots of the post have surfaced on social platforms such as Reddit, where discussions continue among fans and followers.
