SL Pacer Says Playing For CSK Is A God Gift, Grateful For Sharing Dressing Room With MS Dhoni

The young Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana is certainly one of the rising stars of the cricket world and he can be a serious concern for the Indian batters in the 3-match T20I series which is starting from 27 July.

Matheesha Pathirana, the 22 years old pacer has a sling action just like former Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga and recently during an interview, he accepted that playing for the IPL team Chennai Super Kings was a God gift for him.

Here’s what Matheesha Pathirana stated, “After my under-19s, I was not in any squads in Sri Lanka. But since my debut for CSK, I got those chances and got selected for Sri Lanka’s main team. Playing for CSK is a gift from God for me.”

He is also very grateful for getting the chance to share the dressing room with MS Dhoni. In his words, “Until I played for CSK, not many knew me. Sharing the dressing room with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is very special for youngsters like me, especially coming from Sri Lanka.”

Matheesha Pathirana has established himself as a good death bowler but he wants to prove himself with new ball as well. He said, “A lot of people say I am good at death. But for me, that is not enough. I want to be good with the new ball and in the middle overs as well. If I can get swing and accuracy with the new ball, it will be good for me and the teams I play for. I just want to keep it simple. I don’t think about that. If I get my accuracy at the pinpoint, the right lengths and the swing, that will be enough for me.”

Let’s see which team will win the 3-match series – India or Sri Lanka. What do you think?
