Smriti Irani Accuses Bhupesh Baghel of Diverting Mahadev App Money for Elections

Smriti Irani challenged whether Baghel was exposing his own government to the inquiry, stating that the Enforcement Directorate’s probe was based on the specifics of police investigations conducted in both Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday targeted Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over the claim that he got more than Rs 500 crore in kickbacks, accusing Congress of utilizing hawala money provided by illicit betting operators to support its Chhattisgarh election campaign. Union Minister Smriti Irani stated at a news conference, “Satta (power) me reh kar satta (betting) ka khel khela hai (he has played the game of betting while being in power).”

Union Minister Smriti Irani questioned whether Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was questioning his own administration a day after the Enforcement Directorate alleged that Baghel got ₹508 crores from the creators of the troubled Mahadev betting app, an accusation that Baghel vehemently denied. The Mahadev app has gained attention after a number of well-known Bollywood figures were recently questioned over its Dubai-based platform. An admission and an online benami bank account linked ₹508 crores in funds to a ‘Baghel’ running for the state election, according to the ED.This comes after the Enforcement Directorate stated that “these are subject matters of investigation” regarding “startling allegations” that promoters of the Mahadev betting app have paid Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel approximately Rs 508 crore thus far, based on forensic analysis and a statement provided by a “cash courier.”

Union Minister Smriti Irani claimed at a news conference that “never before in our electoral history have people seen such evidence,” accusing Baghel of contesting the polls not with the backing of the people but rather with hawala and betting operators. In response, the chief minister charged that the BJP was using federal investigative agencies to attack him in advance of the state’s assembly elections, which are scheduled for November 7 and 17. Retaliating, Irani claimed that data from police investigations in Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh formed the basis of the Enforcement Directorate’s inquiry and questioned whether Baghel was implicating his own administration.

Chhattisgarh, Congress leadership’s signature pastime, is gambling while in office. Horrifying information about Bhupesh Baghel surfaced in front of the nation yesterday. A guy by the name of Asim Das had more than Rs 5.30 Crores taken from him.Is it accurate to say that Shubham Soni gave money to Congress leaders through Asim Das? Is it accurate to say that Shubham Soni gave Asim Das the instructions to travel to Raipur and provide Baghel money for election expenses?
